Dr. Fanning has been in the field of education for twenty-eight years, with twenty-three of those years spent in administration. He began his career as a teacher at Lincoln County High School, where he taught for five years before moving into an administrative role in Madison County, Alabama. There, he served as assistant principal at Meridianville Middle School and later became principal of Hazel Green High School. In July 2009, Dr. Fanning returned to Lincoln County to take up a supervisory position with the Lincoln County Department of Education. In July 2016, he transitioned to a supervisor role in the central office after serving as principal of South Lincoln School.
A native of Lincoln County, Dr. Fanning graduated from Lincoln County High School in 1990. He earned his undergraduate degree from Cumberland University in Lebanon, TN, and completed three graduate degrees in administration from Tennessee State University. Dr. Fanning resides in the Elora community with his wife, Brooke Gallant, who manages Gallant Riverview Funeral Home alongside her father. They have one daughter, Sloane.
