The first reference to Flintville School can be found in the August 12, 1871 Fayetteville Observer in a article called "What we need at Flyntville [the original spelling of our community]: "Mr. Editor - We need a good teacher here. Our town is improving rapidly, and we need a No. 1 teacher....We need a good school here."
